How to Take a Backup of WordPress Site from cPanel?

Steps of taking backup of your WordPress Website

Before taking a backup of your WordPress site, you have to log in to your cPanel. Then you need to take a backup of your WordPress files and then you need to take a backup of your database.

So, first things first. Taking backup of your WordPress site includes the following steps.

  1. Login to your cPanel
  2. Go to the File manager
  3. Now select and compress to zip the files that have a wp- prefix and index.php, xmlrpc.php.
  4. Select the location where you want to save your backup files.
  5. If it is necessary, rename the zip file.
  6. Download the compressed file.

Now, let’s move on to the backup process of WordPress Database.

  1. Login to your cPanel.
  2. If you know the name of your website’s current database then ok or else visit the file manager and open wp-config. You will find your current database name there.
  3. Go to PHPMyAdmin in cPanel
  4. Go to your desired database and select export. 
  5. While doing the export, compress the files into zip format.
  6. Select go.
  7. Download the zip file.

Taking a backup of your website is easy. You just need to know the steps. You don’t need to hire anyone for this job. But if you don’t have time, you can hire someone for this. But keep in mind, that taking backup is really very important.

I usually take a backup every single month. There are some who take backups every single day. It actually depends on your work when you have to take your backups.
